In 2016, Olivia Solon, a reporter with the Guardian, posted a screenshot to her Instagram profile of the e-mail she had been given that contains threats of rape and murder in direction of her. The photo write-up experienced obtained three likes and innumerable responses, and in September 2017, the company's algorithms turned the Image into an advertisement visible to Solon's sister. An Instagram spokesperson apologized and explained to The Guardian that "We have been sorry this happened it isn't really the knowledge over here we want anyone to own.
